Vernon Downs officials found out officially that TK99/105 was canceling its 'Fireworks Over Syracuse' event by hearing the news first on the radio.
The racetrack's marketing director, Mark Scalzo, says the deal fell apart after TK's owner, Galaxy Communications, wished to change their agreement because ticket sales weren't up to expectations.
Cheap Trick was supposed to play at the event. That show has been moved to the Turning Stone showroom. Those wishing a refund on tickets purchased for the firworks show can stop by the station's new offices at 235 Walton Street in Armory Square, or by mailing them to the station.
