WFBL lays off morning host

October 6, 2001 by Scott Jameson

In an effort to cut costs, WFBL AM 1050 laid off its operations director and morning air personality Dave Smith on Friday.

Smith had hosted the weekday morning show since the station switched to its adult-standards format nine years ago. His on-air show will be replaced by a syndicated program hosted by Jeff Rollins. Smith's operations duties will be taken over by Jim Tate, program director of sister station Oldies 92.1.

The station's promotions director Bob Scanlon was also let go for budgetary reasons. Both stations are owned by Connecticut-based Buckley Radio.
