Galaxy drops bid for SU sports broadcasts

April 20, 2002 by Scott Jameson

Galaxy Communications has decided not to pursue an earlier decision this year to wrestle 95X (WAQX) for radio broadcast rights to Syracuse University sports. Galaxy owner Ed Levine says without a decision by SU at this point, Galaxy wouldn't have enough time to put together an effective advertising and promotional campaign.

Levine had hoped to lure play-by-play rights away from Citadel's 95X and WNSS 1260 AM for airing on TK-99.

Citadel Communications operations manager for Syracuse, Tom Mitchell, says they are close to re-signing a deal with Syracuse University.
