WOLF AM adds a digital signal

Last week Syracuse's Radio Disney affiliate, WOLF 1490 AM, began broadcasting a digital signal. After shelling out $80,000 for the upgrade, the station is now ready for the day that digital receivers become available to consumers later this year.Depending on whether tower location or city of license is taken into consideration, there is some debate as to whether WOLF is the first digital AM in the state. WOLF clearly is the first AM transmitter physically located in New York State to begin broadcasting digitally. But WOR AM, which has been transmitting a digital signal from across the border in New Jersey, is licensed to New York City and is a New York market station.
