Soundcheck turns 25

December 3, 2004 by Scott Jameson

A quarter of a century ago Dave Frisina launched what would become Central New York's longest running local music show.

To celebrate that milestone, Frisina will host a live two-hour broadcast Sunday night from the Red House in Armory Square featuring "unplugged" performances from Joe Whiting, Jamie Notarthomas, Los Blancos, Isreal Hagan, Gary Frenay, Doug Moncreif, and other special guests.Soundcheck, which airs Sunday nights on TK-99/105 (WTKW/WTKV), got its start in 1979 on 95X (WAQX) which cancelled the show a year and a half ago. Frisina resurrected it shortly thereafter when he moved across town to TK-99.
