The New York State Fair announced Def Leppard will be playing a concert at the Mohegan Sun Grandstand during this year’s fair, as part of the “30th Birthday Bash” for Citadel rocker 95X (WAQX Manlius).
The fair and concert promoter LiveNation say tickets will go on sale this Saturday at noon. Prices will be $39.50 and $49.50, depending on where you want to sit.
Strangely, it looks like 95X’s own promotions department is asleep at the wheel. When we visited the station’s homepage, there was nothing about a 30th Anniversary celebration. Here’s what WAS listed as of 7:30pm Monday (nearly 3 hours after the announcement was made by LiveNation).
Over at the radio-info.com message boards, there’s been some speculation of 95X flipping formats, given the station’s recent ratings performance (or lack thereof). Given today’s announcement, we’re guessing anything along those lines won’t happen until after August, if ever.
