Hannity Inks Joint Premiere/Citadel Deal

Hannity Inks Joint Premiere/Citadel Deal

In a move Citadel CEO Farid Suleman calls “an unusual deal, but it’s a deal for the times,” Sean Hannity’s show will be syndicated by both Citadel’s ABC Radio Networks and by Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks, effective next year.

Radio Online reports the deal allows ABC to provide the show to Citadel-owned affiliates, while Premiere will provide the show to Clear Channel-owned stations and all other affiliates.  The deal also reportedly pays Hannity $100 million over the next five years, in addition to a percentage of the show’s earnings.  That’s at least four times what Hannity made for his previous five-year deal with Citadel.

(Updated 7/23/08) Locally, Hannity is heard on Clear Channel’s WSYR 570 in Syracuse and Community Broadcasters LLC’s WATN 1240 in Watertown.  Hannity is also heard in the Cortland/Ithaca market on Saga’s WHCU 870 — but even as we update this entry, Hannity’s affiliate search page still lists WKRT 920 in Cortland as the affiliate there.  (When Citadel sold WKRT and WIII to Saga almost a year ago, Saga gave WKRT to “Bible Broadcasting Network” to meet ownership limit requirements.  BBN changed WKRT’s calls to WYBY, and Saga moved Hannity over to WHCU.)  Our apologies for omitting WHCU from the original entry, and thanks to two CNYRadio.com readers for clarifying it all!
