KISS-FM Drops AM Driver Eric Thomas

June 19, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA-ROME -- Barely a month since he was hired to host mornings at KISS-FM (WSKS/WSKU), Eric Thomas tells CNYRadio.com he was given his walking papers today because management "didn't like the direction of the show."  He has also blogged about the situation.

Shaun Andrews, program director for the Roser Communications Group CHR simulcast confirms Eric's dismissal, but declined to provide additional comment.  All mentions of Thomas have already been removed from cnykiss.com.

On his own personal blog, Thomas calls his decision to come to Utica, "the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life."  However, he says Roser has "been fair, offering me a severance package that I accepted."

Thomas goes on to say, "I walk away knowing this: I did everything that was asked of me. I never defrauded them, my demos sounded exactly like the show did. I went in every day and worked really hard to do a good radio show."

Regarding last month's fake format flip, which drew plenty of mixed reaction from listeners, Thomas blogged, "it was not my idea, and I regret not fighting it. I will leave it at that."

Update 5:40pm - Shaun Andrews tells us Kenny the Promo Guy will be handling morning show duties until a permanent replacement is named.
