Foxfur Flips Oswego's 96.7 from MOViN to Wolf Simulcast

November 30, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

OSWEGO -- There's a new sound tonight in the Port City -- the MOViN 100.3 simulcast that used to be heard on 96.7 has been replaced by sister station New Country WOLF 105.1.  There are also some call letter changes for those of you keeping score at home.  Also inside: an update on the search for WOLF personalities.

Foxfur Communications VP/Station Manager Sam Furco tells CNYRadio.com, "we just feel 96.7 Oswego is a better fit for a simulcast with 105.1 than with MOViN."  He says the switch took place at 6:00 this evening.  And here are the accompanying call letter changes, which are already reflected in the top-of-hour legal IDs of the stations:

In summary, WMVU is deleted and the previously sidelined WWLF-FM call letters return.

Translator Upgraded

Unchanged in this game of musical chairs is the 98.3 FM translator helping WOLF-FM's programming to penetrate downtown Syracuse.  Furco says translator W252AC has moved from its old 9-watt location in Camillus to the WOLF tower outside the studios in Syracuse, where it enjoys a significant power increase to 250 watts.  The translator's city of license has also changed, to Fairmount.

Air Talent to Debut in January

Last but not least, Furco updates us on the search for on-air talent for the still-jockless country station.  He says the new morning show and other dayparts will be hitting the air in January.  No names yet, though -- Furco says the station is still conducting interviews among candidates.

Right now, Furco says he's "narrowing things down... but still interested in more airchecks and resumes."  If you're interested in applying, send your materials as soon as possible:

WOLF 105.1
401 W. Kirkpatrick St.
Syracuse, NY 13204

Foxfur Communications is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

And this is kind of old news, but since we haven't mentioned it yet, we'll include it here for the sake of our archives: Skip Clark is PD of WOLF-FM and WWLF-FM... while still holding down PD and morning co-host duties for MOViN 100.3.  Prior to landing at MOViN, Clark had been a host for Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS).
