Utica's Kiss-FM Restores Localism at Night

January 6, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA-ROME -- It's a move we don't see often, especially in the current economic climate: a syndicated show being replaced by a local personality.  That actually happened this week on the two Kiss-FM stations (WSKS/WSKU) owned by Roser Communications Network.

The the satellite-fed Party Playhouse with Jackson Blue was heard for the last time last week. As of Monday, the bird is out and former overnighter Johnny Lew is now handling the 7p-Midnight shift.

Kiss-FM Program Director Shaun Andrews tells CNYRadio.com, "Johnny was an obvious choice to step up. He's a fun guy whose energy and enthusiasm is infectious. In these days and times we're proud to offer our listeners LIVE AND LOCAL djs to listen and interact with during both the day and night."

Lew first appeared on the overnight shift back in October. In addition to his current weeknight timeslot, he's also listed on the station website for Saturday afternoons.

Jackson Blue had only aired on Kiss-FM since September, a week after former local night host "Intern Dave" Wheeler exited the station. Wheeler has since been working weekends and fill-ins across town at Regent's WLZW and WFRG.
