Another ACM Nod for Tom & Becky

February 6, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- For at least the third year in a row, the B104.7 (WBBS) morning show has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music (ACM) award.  And once again, a programmer who used to work in Utica and Watertown gets a nomination for his current station in Albany.

That first paragraph is almost a word-for-word repeat of the story we ran almost one year ago.

The ACM list of radio award nominees (PDF) was announced yesterday and B104.7's Tom Owens and Becky Palmer are nominated for On-Air Personality of the Year, Medium Market.  Competition includes Clay and Dale from Buffalo's WYRK, and personalities from Arizona, Alabama and Florida.

Heading east along the Thruway, Albany's WGNA is nominated for Radio Station of the Year, Medium Market.  Operations Manager and afternoon driver Tom Jacobsen formerly worked in a similar capacity at Regent's Big Frog 104 (WFRG) in Utica, and before that at Froggy 97 (WFRY) in Watertown.  Jacobsen's station is also in competition with WYRK.

Neither Tom and Becky nor Jacobsen won their respective categories last year (PDF).

As usual, organizers say "due to time constraints," the winners for the radio categories will not be televised as part of the 45th ACM Awards telecast, which is set to take place live in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 18th.  It'll be carried by CBS.
