Fox's Todd Starnes Recovering from Stroke

February 10, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

NEW ORLEANS -- According to his own Twitter account, Fox News Radio reporter Todd Starnes is recovering after a stroke while on assignment in New Orleans.  Starnes' reports can often be heard locally on WSYR, the region's lone Fox News Radio affiliate.

A tip of the hat to WSYR anchor Alex Silverman, who re-tweeted the news from Starnes' Twitter account today.  (We hadn't been following Starnes previously, so we wouldn't have known otherwise.)  The original tweet, posted about 10:45am Eastern time today read, "todd had a minor stroke on assignment in N.O. has regained all motor skills. full recovery expected."

A little over an hour later, an update presumably from Starnes himself: "Thanks for the thoughts and kind prayers."

Starnes, whose accomplishments include winning an Edward R. Murrow Award and the AP's Mark Twain Award for Storytelling, is also known for his best-selling book, "They Popped My Hood and Found Gravy on the Dipstick."  In the book, Starnes humorously recalls his 2005 open heart surgery and the subsequent lifestyle changes that resulted in losing 150 pounds.
