OSWEGO — National Public Radio affiliate WRVO announced plans to launch a new locally-produced show co-hosted by Morning Edition host Jason Smith and reporter Jasmyn Belcher. Weekly Edition is set to debut on March 19.
The announcement was made in the latest edition of the “WRVO Program Points” email newsletter, issued Thursday by PD Fred Vigeant. He says the show will have “a little bit of everything” — interviews, analysis, reviews and commentary. Even though the show doesn’t hit the air for another month, Vigeant says a “sneak peek” will be released in podcast format next week. More details about the show (there was no mention of a timeslot) will also be forthcoming.
Job Search Ends
On a related note, we’ve been following up on some job openings published on CNYRadio.com over the past few months. You may recall back in November, WRVO had posted a job for a Senior News Reporter/Producer. Last week, Vigeant told CNYRadio.com “we are no longer seeking” for the position, and “we’ll be formally announcing the newest addition to our staff shortly.”
As soon as that announcement happens, we’ll let you know. In addition to the primary 89.9FM signal in Oswego, WRVO’s programming is carried on additional full-power stations in Syracuse (WRVD 90.3), Utica (WRVN 91.1), Watertown (WRVJ 91.7), Hamilton (WRCU 90.1) and Cortland (WSUC 90.5). Programming is also simulcast on translators in Watertown, Geneva, Norwich and Hamilton.
Whether it’s a new show, new jingles, a lineup change, a celebrity visit, a job opening or anything in between, we’re always interested in what’s happening at your station. Send those news tips to firstname.lastname@example.org or use the handy Contact Form.
