WRVO Bringing NPR's Carl Kasell to Syracuse

April 22, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Carl Kasell, a fixture of NPR News programming for more than four decades, will be coming to Syracuse in late June.  Tickets are now on sale for Kasell's appearance, according to organizers at Oswego-based NPR affiliate WRVO.

According to the latest "Program Points" e-newsletter from Fred Vigeant, WRVO Assistant GM for Content, Kasell will appear at the Palace Theatre on James Street in Syracuse on Tuesday, June 22 at 8pm.  The station's website says balcony tickets will be $20 and floor-level seats are $25 (the website also cautions that the venue's balcony is not wheelchair accessible).

Organizers say Kasell -- who retired from news last year, but continues to serve as scorekeeper on NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is expected to share memories and reflections on his career with NPR, which spans more than 40 years.  He'll also take questions from the audience.

Tickets are being sold on a general admission basis, with doors opening sometime "between 7 and 7:30 p.m. depending on weather conditions," according to the WRVO website.  The station also notes ticket sales are not considered a donation to WRVO, and thus, are not tax-deductible.

More details and online ordering are available through WRVO's website, or you can call 1(800)341-3690.  Audience members with disabilities or specialized seating requirements are asked to order their tickets by phone.
