The Score 1260 Adds Danny Parkins for Middays

May 27, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Another locally-produced show has been added to the lineup at The Score 1260 (WSKO). The addition of Danny Parkins will give the Citadel station eight solid hours of local sports talk every weekday, starting on Tuesday.  Updated 2:55pm with additional information from Citadel.

We learned about the new show by chance, spotting it on The Score's Twitter feed this morning. Parkins show will air weekdays from noon to 2pm.

Added 2:55pm - A press release issued this afternoon from Citadel says Parkins is a native of Chicago and a 2009 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.  Citadel Ops Manager Tom Mitchell says Parkins is no stranger to The Score -- he formerly worked as a producer for Brent Axe, and is currently working as producer of Bud and the Manchild, which airs in the timeslot leading into Parkins' show.  Prior to those experiences, Parkins worked with SU's on-campus stations.

Mitchell commented, "This new daily 2 hour show brings our total to 45 hours a week of local sports talk, on the voice of the Central New York sports fan, The Score 1260."

When Parkins' show begins next week, the station clocks 40 of those 45 local hours per week with an 8-hour block of local programming each weekday, starting with Bud and the Manchild at 10am. Parkins is next, followed by On the Block with Brent Axe, which runs until 6pm.  Weekend programming fills the remaining 5 hours of Mitchell's claim.

The addition of Parkins means WSKO will be dropping Sporting News Radio's hour-long offerings from Tim Brando and 2 Live Stews.
