Former K-Rocker JJ Herr Gets APD Stripes in Raleigh

June 10, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

RALEIGH, NC -- National trades are reporting a promotion for former K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) personality JJ Herr. Since 2007, he's been working middays at country station WQDR, and now adds Assistant PD duties at the Curtis Media Group-owned station.

Herr started his radio career at K-Rock on the evening shift, eventually moving to mornings before he headed to North Carolina in 2002.  Herr was originally hired at the Curtis Media cluster in Raleigh to host nights at sister station 96 Rock, but moved over to WQDR in 2007.

In a statement issued by the station, Herr reflected on his shift from rock to country:  "All my life I thought I was a rocker, " he said, adding, "but I just love everything about ‘QDR: the music, the artists, the listeners, everything."

Because PD Lisa McKay was also promoted to Station Manager at the same time, the company says Herr will be handling many day-to-day administrative tasks McKay used to perform, in addition to maintaining his regular weekday airshift.
