Galaxy Employee Accused of Stealing Over $3G

May 8, 2011 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA/ROME -- An employee of Galaxy Communications has been sent to the Oneida County Jail after police say he stole more than $3,000 from the company.  Michael Hance, 32, is facing two felony charges -- one for allegedly taking the money and one for trying to cover it up.

According to multiple sources, Hance was responsible for collecting money from sales clients and remitting said payments to Galaxy Communications.  Police say Hance had collected on certain accounts, but pocketed the money rather than handing it over to Galaxy.  They also accuse Hance of failing to record certain sales-related transactions into Galaxy's accounting system.

Hance was arraigned on one class E felony count of falsifying business records and one class D felony count of grand larceny.  He'll answer to those charges in Town of New Hartford Court, at a future date.

In the Utica-Rome market, Syracuse-based Galaxy Communications owns classic rocker 96.9 WOUR, hot AC Mix 102.5 (WUMX), modern rocker 94.9 K-Rock (WKLL) and it holds the market's affiliation for ESPN Radio (1310 WTLB, 1230 WIXT, 1350 WRNY).
