Clear Channel's iHeartRadio to Add "Custom" Radio

July 11, 2011 by CNYRadio.com

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- If you've been listening to any Clear Channel radio stations, or following them on Facebook or Twitter, you've heard about a "major announcement" coming up at 8:15 this morning.  But the word's already out -- the company's iHeartRadio mobile device app will soon allow users to create their own music mixes, "like Pandora."

Hat tip to Radio-Info.com, a national radio news website with more than enough connections across the country to get its hands on the info a little bit early.

According to their story, the new version of iHeartRadio will be launched this fall.  Users will still be able to use the app to listen to live streams of Clear Channel stations across the country, but they'll also gain the ability to create their own music mixes, similar to the long-established Pandora Internet Radio app.

The launch of the new version of iHeartRadio will be accompanied by a two-day music festival this September in Las Vegas, featuring a long list of top performers.  The entire event will be streamed live through the iHeartRadio website, and through the app for those who wish to watch on their mobile devices.

Locally, Clear Channel owns six stations in the Syracuse market.
