Mars Hill Network Seeks Program Director

January 28, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

Updated 2/3 -- SYRACUSE -- The Mars Hill Radio Network is looking for a new program director, according to a job posting which appeared online Friday.  Between full-power stations and translators, the network's religious programming is broadcast on more than 20 frequencies stretching from Syracuse west to Rochester, south to Long Island and north to the Canadian border.

Here's the full text of the job opening, as seen on the Mars Hill Network web site:

The Mars Hill Network, a Christian radio ministry based in Syracuse, NY, is currently accepting resumes for a possible full or part-time position of program director. The Mars Hill Network is seeking an individual with outstanding verbal and written skills. Candidate needs to be highly organized, driven, and feel comfortable delegating responsibility. Applicant should understand the listening audience and work well as a member of a team. He or she must have prior experience in broadcasting.

Responsibilities include shaping the overall on-air sound. Work closely with the general manager and operations director while overseeing audio production. He or she will interface with news director, underwriting manager, and on-air staff. Manage national and locally produced programming for broadcast. Research and develop new programming as well as special programs for consideration. On air work is necessary and knowledge of Audio Vault and Adobe Audition are a plus. A heart for ministry and the ability to communicate the love of Christ are essential.

If you're interested in the gig, email resumes and mp3 audio to: waynetaylor@marshillnetwork.org.

Why Full OR Part Time?

Added 2/3: CNYRadio.com asked GM Wayne Taylor why the position could be "full or part-time," since program directors are usually full-time.

He explained to CNYRadio.com that operations director Mark Hard's duties have expanded, particularly following last summer's launch of Mars Hill's fifth full-power station, WMHU, in the Utica-Rome market.  As a result, Hard has been sharing PD duties with part-time announcer Dan Dunn.

"Having considered Mark’s load with operations, it was to our advantage in having Dan involved," Taylor said.  "Dan has much experience in the PD field."

Taylor tells CNYRadio.com "this new PD position is in consideration stages," explaining that Mars Hill is evaluating candidates "for this possible change in our structure."
