Lineup Changes Aplenty for WRVO

June 2, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

OSWEGO -- Responding to audience ratings and listener requests, WRVO Public Media has announced a flurry of changes to its program schedule, set to take effect two weeks from Monday.  Two new programs each from NPR and CBC will be added, while some existing programs will be shifted to new timeslots.WRVO program director Fred Vigeant announced in the latest "WRVO Program Points" email newsletter earlier this week.

Vigeant says WRVO will be picking up two new pilots produced by NPR.  "Ask Me Another" is described as "a fun-filled hour of trivia, puzzles, and witty banter," similar to the puzzle segment on "Weekend Edition Sunday."  The new program will air on Saturdays at 9pm for 13 weeks.  Once that pilot run wraps up, the "TED Radio Hour" will debut in the same timeslot.

From the CBC comes a program called "Q," which will air weeknights at 9pm.  Host Jian Ghomeshi will discuss "the latest trends in sophisticated art and entertainment," along with "in-depth discussions of social and cultural issues."  Also from the CBC, "Day 6" will air on Saturdays at 2pm, examining events which "slipped below the radar" during the previous week.

Last but not least, locavores may enjoy "Earth Eats," a weekly 30-minute program which spotlights the business of eating local -- from farmers and markets to restaurants and chefs.  It will air Saturdays at 4:30pm.

More details on these new shows -- and the new timeslots for existing programs -- are available on the WRVO website, including a printable program schedule grid.  All of the changes take effect starting Monday, June 18.
