WRVO Tops Public Stations in Spring 2012 Arbitron Ratings

July 25, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

OSWEGO -- NPR affiliate WRVO, with help from its various repeater stations across the region, appears to be the leader among public radio stations in the Syracuse and Utica-Rome markets.  Radio Research Consortium released the numbers this week.

Syracuse Public Radio Breakdown

According to RRC's website, Oswego-based WRVO and Syracuse-based repeater WRVD had a combined 4.4.  Had WRVO been included with the list of subscribing commercial stations released last week, that 4.4 would have put it between the 5.5 posted by Clear Channel AC Y94FM (WYYY) and the 2.5 share claimed by WOLF Radio Inc.'s New Country WOLF 105.1.

Next on the list is Syracuse University's 88.3 WAER, posting a 2.2 share, which is tied on the commercial side with MOViN' 100.3/96.5 (WMVN).  That's followed by WCNY-FM with a 1.5 share, just a few tenths of a point below Urban AC Power 106.9 (WHEN).

Utica-Rome Public Radio Breakdown

The Arbitron data released by RRC shows WRVO and Utica-based repeater WRVN returning a combined 2.5 share, good enough to tie with Roser's Bug Country (WBUG-FM) on the latest Utica-Rome commercial station chart.

WCNY, with help of repeater WUNY, grabs second place among public stations, with a 1.7 share.  Next on the list is Albany's Northeast Public Radio (WAMC), with help from Floyd-based repeater WRUN-FM and Canajoharie's WCAN, collectively racking up a 0.8 in the market.

About these Numbers

As with the commercial stations lists, these numbers represent Arbitron's "overall" estimates for all persons age 12+ for all seven days of the week between 6am and 12 midnight.  These numbers do not necessarily reflect any station's performance within specific timeslots or specific audience demographics.
