Cayuga Radio Presents Giant "Get Well" Card to Officer

November 7, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

ITHACA -- Nearly a month after Ithaca Police Officer Anthony Augustine was shot in the line of duty, he's still recuperating.  The seven stations of the Cayuga Radio Group created a larger-than-life "get well" card for Officer Augustine, and had it on display in many locations around the area over the past few weeks, gathering well wishes and donations.  Earlier this week, the giant card was presented to Officer Augustine.

Above, just one of many photos from the ceremony where Officer Augustine, front and center in the New York Yankees t-shirt, was presented with the card.  A video from the ceremony -- and more than a hundred other photos from the ceremony and various signing events over the past few weeks -- have been posted on the various Cayuga Radio Group station websites, including Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY).

Marketing Director Connie Fairfax-Ozmun tells CNYRadio.com the card is seven feet tall and over six feet wide.  A built-in drop box on the right side of the card allowed well-wishers to provide donations toward the officer's medical expenses.

“We are proud to support Officer Augustine and the Ithaca Police Department,” said Chet Osadchey, Vice President and General Manager of the Cayuga Radio Group.  “He is a hero, and this card expresses the community’s sincere gratitude to him.”

The Cayuga Radio Group is owned by Saga Communications, and consists of 870AM/95.9FM (W240CB) News Talk WHCU, Progressive Talk 1470AM WNYY, Classic Rock I-100 WIII-FM, Q Country 103.7FM WQNY, HITS 103.3FM (W277BS), 98.7 FM The Vine (W254BF), and Lite Rock 97.3 FM (WYXL).
