Gomez and Dave place friendly NCAA tourney wager with Seth Davis

March 21, 2013 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Basketball expert Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports thinks 13-seed Montana will upset 4-seed Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament.  Local morning radio hosts Gomez and Dave are hoping Davis is wrong -- they'll be "out in the cold," so to speak, if Syracuse loses tonight.

Co-hosts Dave Coombs and Glenn "Gomez" Adams interviewed Davis on-air yesterday morning.  The duo agreed, if Montana wins, they'll dress up in Montana-themed garb and "dive into icy waters in Central New York," and they'll capture the entire thing on video and send it to Davis.

But, if the Orange win tonight's game, Davis agreed he'll wear an orange wig and wave an orange pennant on TV.

"Hey," said Coombs, "Syracuse better win!"

Adams added, "We'll see you in DC, Seth, when Syracuse advances."

Gomez and Dave are heard in the Syracuse market on TK99/105 (WTKW/WTKV), and in the Utica-Rome market on 96.9 WOUR.  Both stations carry all Syracuse men's basketball games, including as many games as Syracuse plays during the tournament.

On both stations websites (TK99 | WOUR) listeners are being asked to vote for their least favorite hoops analyst.  Davis told Gomez and Dave, "I want to win that," challenging listeners to "blow up my Twitter feed."

Where to Hear or Watch Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament

Tonight's SU/Montana game is scheduled to begin at 9:57pm.  They'll be in the same San Jose, CA arena where (12) California and (5) UNLV will tip-off at 7:27pm, so there's a chance -- albeit a small one -- that the SU game could be delayed if the earlier game runs longer than expected.

Both aforementioned Galaxy-owned radio stations will have coverage of Syracuse's progress through the NCAA tournament.  In the Ithaca market, the SU basketball affiliate is Taughannock Media's ESPN Radio 1160 (WPIE).

As in years past, TV coverage of the tournament will be spread across TBS, TNT, TruTV, and CBS.

Tonight's game will be carried on TruTV.  For Time Warner Cable subscribers, that's channel 884 for high-definition, and depending on where you live, channel 52 or 91 for standard definition.  Verizon FiOS customers can find TruTV on channel 683 for HD, or channel 183 for SD.
