SYRACUSE -- Local radio traffic anchor Kathy Denman is being honored today for helping set the theme for this year's New York State Fair. Officials at the Fair announced her idea, "Sharing the Bounty and Pride of NY," was the winner in a recent online poll among fairgoers.

Denman, who anchors morning traffic reports for multiple Clear Channel stations, had submitted the idea when State Fair officials asked for ideas in February. More than 500 entries were submitted, and staff narrowed the field down to ten finalists. The public was invited to vote for their favorite option on the Fair's Facebook page and today, the Fair announced Denman's idea was the top vote-getter.

In a press release, officials said, "the new theme will now be the basis of a statewide marketing and public relations campaign aimed at promoting the Great New York State Fair to all New Yorkers."

State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine said, "Our goal is to get more New Yorkers involved in this Fair – not only during the 12 day extravaganza, but throughout the year. With this contest, we did just that. In the end, New Yorkers made a super pick for this year’s theme."

Denman has been in charge of the Syracuse hub of Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network since 2003. From Syracuse, she and her staff provide traffic updates to stations in multiple upstate markets. Before that, she had served in various other capacities such as hosting an hour-long daily talk show on 570 WSYR and providing morning drive newscasts for Hot 107.9 (WWHT).

According to the Y94 website, Denman also serves as Director of Community Engagement for the Clear Channel Syracuse cluster.
