Station Operations Manager for WSPX-TV Syracuse.

Supervise the technical, master control and traffic personnel. Administer corporate credit policies and procedures. Check client credit references. Maintain state Accounts Receivable aging, including clearing up discrepancies and collections. Work closely with sate ROM on credit and administrative issues. Maintain petty cash fund. Maintain Corporate Credit Card spending and reconciliation. Responsible for reviewing and approving employee e-Time timesheets. Preparation of station budget, monthly budget variance explanations and other accounting analysis reports as requested by Corporate or ROM. Order office supplies as needed, within budget parameters. Maintain station Public File in accordance with FCC requirements. Review and process all station Accounts Payable invoices into the accounting system. Liaison between corporate and station, credit & collection, accounting and human resources. Responsible for generating, editing and verifying accuracy of daily program logs ensuring all paid programs and commercials run in compliance with agency instructions. Bachelor's Degree required in Business/Communications or related field. Minimum 3 years experience in Broadcasting/Network/Cable industry. Supervisory experience required. Excellent communications skills both verbal and written. Excellent computer skills a must including MS software. Credit and collection experience required. Maintain and establish new news contacts, generate story ideas, set and schedule stores, monitor police/fire scanners, wires, newspapers and Internet/social media. Provide content to CNYHOMEPAGE.COM and the station's other online platforms, write stories and be able to proof copy, direct reporters to news locations, assign stories to reporters and photographers for daily coverage, arrange interviews and opportunities to shoot video and sound, coordinate microwave and satellite live shots, input daily and furniture news assignments into iNews, input script information and co-produce 6:00 newscasts, answer newsroom phones, interact with assignment desks at other Nexstar, ABC, FOX, and CNN stations, conduct research on various topics, and perform other tasks related to the position as assigned. Digital Media Manager for CNY Central – NBC3, CBS5, CW6, CNYCentral.com, Syracuse.

cnycentral-200Looking for a web-savvy newsie who can help us continue to grow our digital and broadcast audience with compelling content and innovative ideas. We need someone with great journalistic instincts with outstanding social media know-how. CNY Central is a market leader in social media and we are seeking a candidate to take our digital and social media presence to new heights.

Impeccable writing, grammar and diction are essential, but so is knowing how to interact with our web audience in a manner that builds loyalty and grows traffic. As the station’s Digital Media Manager, you will work with both the news and sales teams to ensure content published on the website meets CNY Central’s standards for excellence.

The DMM is also responsible for ensuring that published content is searchable by attaching the correct meta data to the content. The DMM must be able to use analytic tools in real time to make decisions about what content readers are responding to the most and determine what can be done to update and improve that content to take advantage of reader interest. The DMM is responsible for selecting content to be featured on our website’s home page as well as story placement in the CNY Central mobile app and our newscasts. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of the importance of “pushes” and “alerts” to our mobile audience and develop a strategy to maximize this feature.

The DMM must also be at the forefront of developing CNY Central’s social media strategy, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. What’s the newest social media craze? Can we use it to increase web traffic and viewers? Those are important questions the DMM must consider daily. The DMM is also responsible for developing and carrying out a website / social media plan for breaking news, special events, special promotions, etc. The DMM will also work one-on-one with newsroom team members, both on and off air, to help them create and/or grow their social media presence.

The DMM will strive to meet monthly goals various analytics including; page views, mobile app downloads, mobile app page views, YouTube views, FB and Twitter followers, unique visitors, etc.
