SYRACUSE — This week, it’s a combination of new and old — the photo is new, but provides a look back at a blast from the past. And the timing seems appropriate, given some recent changes in the Syracuse TV landscape, and buzz about the future.
This classic WTVH Christmas ornament features a logo which, according to Logopedia, was in use from 1984 to 1993. Those were the CBS affiliate’s final years under its original owner, Meredith Corporation, which launched the station in 1948. Amanda Hayden, who worked at WTVH for a couple years in the early 2000s, recently shared this photo on Facebook, and graciously allowed us permission to share it as a Picture of the Week.
A few of Hayden’s friends who commented on the photo said they have similar ornaments, but with a different color scheme, presumably from a different year.

We’re always interested in a look at what’s happening today at your local radio or TV station — or a blast from the past! We rarely have time to go looking around for photos (we just happened to spot this one by chance), so we’re always grateful for reader submissions. Has it been awhile since we’ve aimed the POTW spotlight on your station? Just email your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org or upload via our Contact Form. Thanks to your submissions, there’s a new Picture of the Week every Friday at 7:00am.
