WRUN Sale Becomes Official; Call Letters Change

UTICA-ROME -- The sale of WRUN 1150 from Albany-based Northeast Public Radio to Bud Williamson's Digital Radio Broadcasting is now official.  The deal (first reported in July), which included a swap for another station plus some cash, closed last week. Updated 12/10 at 10pm with WRUN call letters changed to WUTI.

WRUN(AM) Traded for a Cooperstown FM

UTICA -- Northeast Public Radio, a multi-station network originating from flagship WAMC/Albany, has reportedly traded away WRUN(AM) for an FM translator in Cooperstown.  The deal allows the network to reach more listeners closer to its home base, but it won't be completely leaving the Mohawk Valley.

This POTW has a somewhat timely purpose.  WRUN's (relatively) new owner Northeast Public Radio, is about to kick off its fall fund drive.  Starting next week, the network of 19 stations throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts will begin efforts to raise $800,000 in donations from listeners.
