Sunny 102 welcomes new voice, familiar name

SYRACUSE — A family name familiar to longtime Syracuse residents is back on the air.  While Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning meteorologist Mike Ellis is out for the next 5 weeks, Jamie DeLine will be filling in.  The recent NYU graduate is the daughter of the late Dick DeLine, and grand-daughter of Jim DeLine, who was on both radio and TV in Syracuse, decades ago. CNY Central to air full hour of “Face the Nation” — but with a catch

SYRACUSE – CBS News extended the long-running Sunday morning interview show Face the Nation from 30 minutes to a full hour last July, but local affiliate WTVH-5 pre-empts the second half-hour in favor of an infomercial.  Although that in itself won’t be changing, it will soon be possible for local viewers to watch the full hour, live on their televisions — but there’s a catch. SYRACUSE — After several days of operating at reduced power, it appears Clear Channel CHR Hot 107.9 (WWHT) has resumed broadcasting at its full allotted power of 50,000 watts.  Since our May 10 story about a lack of reception in areas farther from Syracuse, we’ve heard through the grapevine there was an equipment malfunction at the transmitter site. Galaxy CEO: Syracuse radio capitalizes on newspaper changes

SYRACUSE — Recent changes at the Syracuse Post-Standard have resulted in a “stunning” increase in revenue for local radio stations. That’s according to Galaxy Communications CEO/President Ed Levine, who says the newspaper’s changes have helped not just his own stations, but the entire Syracuse radio market as a whole. [More »]
