BUFFALO — It’s two franchises for the price of one today: this is a “Picture of the Week” and a “Where Are They Now” together in the same post. This week’s photo comes to us from Grant deBruin, formerly of Syracuse’s WSYR-TV and Utica’s WKTV.

BUFFALO — It’s two franchises for the price of one today: this is a “Picture of the Week” and a “Where Are They Now” together in the same post. This week’s photo comes to us from Grant deBruin, formerly of Syracuse’s WSYR-TV and Utica’s WKTV.
UTICA — NBC affiliate WKTV NewsChannel 2 is looking to fill an opening in the sales department. Frank Abbadessa, Station Manager and Director of Sales, sends along the following job posting:
UTICA-ROME — A few days after Eastlan Ratings released its Fall 2011 audience estimates for the Utica-Rome market, Arbitron has released its own report. There are some notable differences, but Arbitron has only released a portion of the rankings, so it’s difficult to form a complete comparison between the findings of the two companies.
UTICA-ROME — “Superior 95.5″ sounds like the name of a new radio station, but it’s actually the name of a new Spanish-language program airing on WUTQ 95.5 (WUTQ/WADR). The one-hour show, produced and hosted by Adolfo Cova, airs Saturdays at noon. Whether or not you’re among our 700+ Twitter followers (and thank you all!), we wanted to let you know about a new Twitter “list” we just started. @cnyradio/CNY-alumni gives you a convenient one-click way to follow broadcasters who used to work at radio or TV stations in Syracuse, Utica or Ithaca. But we know it’s far from complete, so we’re asking for your help in building the list.
Updated 1/4 – BUFFALO — Multiple news media outlets in western New York’s largest city are reporting Cumulus Media’s Buffalo cluster has terminated its 13-year deal to broadcast and syndicate Buffalo Bills games. That report has been creating some question about radio coverage in Syracuse and Utica when the Bills return to the field for the 2012 NFL season later this year.
CENTRAL NEW YORK — As per tradition, we observe the last day of the year with a look back through our traffic stats to find out which topics were the most-searched, and which stories received the most views during 2011. With this being the first full year for CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com being merged as one website, we wondered if any TV-related stories might make the top 10. Without further adieu, let’s get to the countdowns!
CENTRAL NEW YORK — Tomorrow, we’ll tally up our web server stats and countdown the top 10 stories of the year, as ranked by number of page views. First, we’re adding something new to our “Year in Review” coverage this year: earlier this month, we put out an open call for YOUR opinions on the biggest stories to impact broadcasting in the CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com coverage areas during 2011.
Updated 12/31 CENTRAL NEW YORK — While most media outlets use this week to look back at all the general news from 2011, we’re using these last few days of the year to look back at all the news from within those media outlets. On New Year’s Eve, we’ll countdown our “top 10″ stories based on our server stats. But first, our annual month-by-month “debriefing” of the most notable stories we covered in 2011. |
