I-100 Pays Tribute to Ronnie James Dio

May 21, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

ITHACA/CORTLAND -- It's a special edition of the locally-produced Homemade Jam this weekend on rocker I-100 (WIII).  The show will be paying tribute to Cortland native and rock star Ronnie James Dio, who died this past Monday at the age of 67.  Dio's wife announced last November that Dio had been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Dio was part of several famous bands during his career, including Dio, Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell.  This weekend's edition of Homemade Jam features songs featuring Dio's work with all of those bands.  Co-hosts are Kat Walters and Jim Catalano.

The tribute episode airs at 6pm tomorrow night on I-100.  It also runs at 11am Sunday on AAA 98.7 The Vine (W254BF and WYXL-HD3).  If you can't be near a radio at those times -- or if you're too far from Ithaca to pick up those signals, no worries.  A podcast of the show is already posted on the I-100 website, along with the playlist.
