Kiss-FM Hires Morning Host

September 28, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA-ROME -- The soap opera of changes in the airstaff lineup at Roser CHR duo Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) appears to be nearing an end.  The station recently hired a new overnight jock, and their website is promoting the debut of a new morning host next week.  But signs indicate the selection may NOT be so new.

A new graphic on the station's homepage (seen here at right) promotes "Mornings Will Never news-09-0928-kissmorningsBe the Same Again," starting next Monday, October 5th at 6am.  If you click the banner, you'll reach a page that says "KISS-FM is going all new in the morning."

But a Monday evening post on afternoon driver S-Dot's Twitter feed indicates it may not be 100% all new -- the tweet read: "He's Baaaack! KISS FM's New Morning Show hits the airwaves next Mon, Oct. 5th! Start Guessing..."

If someone's coming "back" then obviously, they aren't new.  We immediately thought of a few names -- and we've received some anonymous tips mentioning those names and some others.  But so far, there doesn't appear to be any general consensus on the pick (or picks), at least not enough for CNYRadio.com to feel confident enough in publishing any names at this time.

That's not stopping former morning driver Eric Thomas from voicing his own guess -- along with some candid thoughts about his brief stay at the station.  In a new post on his blog, Thomas says he was "completely embarrassed to say that I worked there," and doesn't even list his time in Utica on his resume.  He also goes on to speculate that new hire Johnny Lew is only on overnights while he learns the ropes, so he can move to the morning show.

CNYRadio.com asked PD Shaun Andrews for comment on Thomas' blog post; so far, we haven't received a response to our e-mail, but if and when we do, we'll be sure to update this story.

  1. It's def not Piersma word is they are bringing back Gary Spears not bringing in Piersma. I heard his good byes on the Keeler Show and he told Bill that he had nothing lined up but he was going to interview for a morning show slot across town which could really only mean KISS. No word yet if he interviewed or not.
