WRCK Returns to Air as WUTQ Simulcast

Updated 3/18 at 7:00pm -- UTICA-ROME -- It may not be a surprise to local prognosticators, but it's now official: 100.7 WRCK is now simulcasting the hybrid news/talk/music format originally branded as "95.5 WUTQ."  WRCK's new owner, Utica-based Roser Communications Network, has already applied to change WRCK's call sign to WUTQ-FM.

FCC Approves WRCK Sale to Roser Communucations

UTICA/ROME -- The locally-owned Roser Communications Network is one big step closer to picking up another radio station. The FCC announced today that it has approved Roser's plan to buy WRCK 100.7 from Educational Media Foundation. The $425,000 deal was first revealed in November.

Former Syracuse/Utica TV Station Owner Barry Ackerley Dies

SEATTLE -- Barry Ackerley, who once owned several upstate New York television stations including ABC affiliates WIXT in Syracuse and WUTR in Utica, has died. News reports from Ackerley's long-time home base of Seattle say Ackerley died after suffering a stroke yesterday morning in California at the age of 76.

"God's Country" Arrives in Utica-Rome

Even in its post-Clear Channel life, Remsen's 93.5 FM (WOKR) just can't seem to settle on one format for any significant legnth of time.  Religious broadcaster EMF has LMA'ed the station out to a new network called "God's Country," featuring a different flavor of Christian music than WOKR's previous "K-Love" format.
