Privacy Policy

Every website on the internet generally collects at least SOME information about users who visit.  Here, we’ll explain what CNYRadio.com collects from you — whether you’re just passing through, or if you’ve got a Subscriber Account.

Casual Users

CNYRadio.com collects some basic stats about every visitor, but none of these things can be linked directly to any specific person.  For example, we can see “X” percent of our visitors use Internet Explorer and “Y” percent use Firefox.  We can see which pages are the most popular.  But we can’t see which browser YOU are using right now, which pages you personally viewed, nor can we even tell who you are.

Subscribers

If you register for a subscriber account, we do need to know a little more about you, but we don’t really use this information very much.

When you sign up for an account, you’ll need to submit a username and a valid e-mail address.  Our system will send a verification e-mail back to you.  This helps ensure people aren’t using fake addresses to flood the site with spam comments.

Upon your first login, you’ll be required to submit a new password of your choosing.  This page will also ask for a variety of other information — like your real name, AIM username, website address, and so on — but NONE of it is required.  (These are “standard” questions that came with the software, we didn’t put them there.)  The only required items are username, valid e-mail address and password.

Who can see this information?
Obviously, if you post any comments on the site, your username will be displayed.  If you provided the URL to your personal website, your username will appear as a link to your website.  But nothing else will be displayed, not even your real name.  (Of course, if your username or website give your identity away, that’s your own decision.)

Any other information you have entered on your user profile page is only viewable by you and by CNYRadio.com management.  We will not share any of this information with anyone.

How will my e-mail address be used?
Your e-mail address is only used for your initial account set-up, and if you ever forget your password.  We do not send out mass e-mail alerts to our users.  We do not provide your e-mail address to third parties.  And again, if you post comments, your e-mail address will not be visible unless you post it in the body of your comment.

Why do I need a subscriber account?
Subscriber accounts are only required if you wish to post comments.  That’s all.  It’s just a measure to keep people from spamming the site with junk comments, and to keep people from pretending to be someone they aren’t.
