SYRACUSE — One of the biggest, most prominent fundraisers for public broadcaster WCNY was notably absent in April. TelAuc, the station’s annual televised auction, usually happens during April. Fans may have noticed this year, April came and went… no TelAuc. But fans need not worry: the station simply decided to postpone the auction until June. 
SYRACUSE — After three years as a news reporter/anchor and show host at Newsradio 570 WSYR, Jay Fishman announced on-air this morning that he’s ending his full-time employment with the station. He’s going to focus the bulk of his time on pursuing a law degree, but he’ll still be involved with the station on a part-time basis. 
SYRACUSE — It’s a pretty common occurrence for The Sean Hannity Show to get pre-empted on WSYR, but usually it’s because the Clear Channel news/talker is carrying live coverage of Yankees baseball. Tonight, the first hour of Hannity was bumped for a full hour of news — hosted by former 93Q personality “Big” Jim Donovan. 
SYRACUSE — For the first time in years, you won’t see 93Q (WNTQ) at this weekend’s Syracuse Balloonfest. But they’re OK with that — because the Citadel CHR brought some top names to town last weekend for their very own “Summer Jam on the Island” concert last weekend, and they say it was a huge success. 
SYRACUSE — It’s not quite like before, but sidelined on-air personalities Mark Vanness and Big Jim Donovan are returning to the airwaves — on different stations both in Syracuse — and both on a part-time basis. 
SYRACUSE — She disappeared from the station website yesterday, and today management confirms it: longtime 95X (WAQX) middayer Alexis has exited the station.
SYRACUSE – Just a few days after 93Q (WNTQ) spent a week celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Ted & Amy in the Morning,” the station has taken longtime midday jock Big Jim Donovan off the air. Management hopes it’s a “temporary situation.” UPDATE 11/19 – Big Jim doesn’t seem to think it’s temporary. 
There can only be one Picture of the Week, but we had two major radio events on the same weekend earlier this month. WFRG’s Frogfest won the coin toss to be the POTW last week. This week, it’s 93Q Balloonfest at Jamesville Beach Park. |
