Updated 12/1 – SYRACUSE — While it’s not uncommon to see “Syracuse University” mentioned by national networks like ESPN, those mentions had usually been for game highlights and other routine sports coverage typically afforded Division I schools. That all changed nearly two weeks ago, when ESPN and other networks converged on Syracuse to cover developments in the Bernie Fine case. SYRACUSE — Public broadcaster WRVO took home First Place in the “Radio Newscast” category at the Syracuse Press Club awards dinner on Saturday night. The Oswego-based NPR affiliate took home four other first-place awards and a second-place title. Syracuse-based NPR affiliate WAER had the second-longest list of awards, and WSYR took home three titles. Updated 5/18. [More »]

SYRACUSE — The once-successful local sports talk pairing of Bud and the Manchild will return to the airwaves on Monday, May 3. The show has a new timeslot — weekdays from 10am to noon. It also has a new home — Citadel’s The Score 1260 (WSKO). CNYRadio.com spoke with co-host Jim Lerch, who says he’s very excited about getting back on the radio for several reasons. [More »]

SAN ANTONIO, TX — CC Media Holdings, Inc. released its first quarter earnings report for 2009 today, and — similar to last week’s reports from Regent and Citadel — the results are not positive. The nation’s largest radio group says revenue fell 23% compared to last year’s first quarter — and the company also posted a $428 million loss. [More »]
