SAN ANTONIO, TX — CC Media Holdings, Inc. released its first quarter earnings report for 2009 today, and — similar to last week’s reports from Regent and Citadel — the results are not positive. The nation’s largest radio group says revenue fell 23% compared to last year’s first quarter — and the company also posted a $428 million loss. [More »]

UPDATED 4/28 at 11:00pm: SYRACUSE — Clear Channel carried out its second round of massive layoffs of the year today — eliminating 590 jobs on top of the 1,800 let go on January 20th. Multiple sources concur one PD has been laid off in Syracuse, a former Ithaca radio journalist was cut in Albany, a former Utica sports talk host loses his job in Houston, and a Senior VP with ties to Central New York was cut at corporate HQ. SYRACUSE — 93Q and Hot 107.9 are catching the attention of the local news media, for openly asking listeners if they should consider pulling songs by Chris Brown off their playlists. The 19-year-old star hasn’t been charged, but is being investigated for allegedly assaulting girlfriend and fellow star Rihanna. [More »]

According to Power 106.9 program director Butch Charles, “there’s a whole lot of the general population that likes and listens to urban music. We want to make sure everybody can hear it.” He’s referring to a new transmitter atop the State Tower Building in downtown Syracuse that the station has been testing for the past couple of weeks.
