ITHACA/CORTLAND — The Cayuga Radio Group of Saga Communications has an opening for a programming and promotions person. We’re told the lucky candidate will replace Jason Kester, who originally planned to leave in December, but he had delayed his departure until the spring.

UTICA/ROME — It’s a busy week at Townsquare Media’s WIBX. After 76 years as an affiliate of CBS News, the station is now running Fox News Radio at the top of the hour. There’s also new imaging, a new station voice, and the staffers are gearing up for the station’s 40th annual Heart Radiothon this coming weekend. 
ITHACA — Observant CNYRadio.com readers have noticed some changes at Saga’s Lite Rock 97.3 (WYXL) over the past couple of weeks: about a week after morning co-host Brian Stoll disappeared from the station, a new co-host is in place. Dave Ashton, a familiar name to local listeners, is back in the market — not only for mornings, but to program the station as well.

And that’s just one of many accomplishments Betty Allinger achieved during her time at Utica’s WIBX, and through her heavy involvement with a long list of community organizations outside of the workplace. Betty Allinger died over the weekend in Ithaca. She was 93. Calling hours are set for this afternoon in Utica, and a Funeral Mass is set to take place tomorrow morning in New Hartford. 
ITHACA — Good news from the folks at Saga’s Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY) to go along with our latest Picture of the Week. Thanks to many generous listeners, the station’s weekend-long plans to collect “A Ton of Toys” actually ended early when the goal was met. 
ITHACA — He’s lived inside a block of ice to raise money for the homeless, floated in the air to help stock up a local food bank, and ran a 60-hour on-air marathon to benefit improvements for the State Theater. And starting today, Q-Country (WQNY) morning host Chris Allinger is camping out at a local mall to help less-fortunate children this Christmas.
