ITHACA — It’s not often we hear about news from ESPN Radio 1160 (WPIE) in Ithaca — but multiple reports say owner Pembrook Pines is selling the station for $150,000. Incoming owner Taughannock Media hasn’t closed on the deal yet, but they’re already taking over sales efforts for the station. [More »]
SYRACUSE — There are supposed to be three more “Wednesdays on the Water” concerts at the Inner Harbor, but media sponsor 95X (WAQX) says the concert series promoter, NCS Events, has decided to pull the plug on the series. [More »]
SYRACUSE — It’s a pretty common occurrence for The Sean Hannity Show to get pre-empted on WSYR, but usually it’s because the Clear Channel news/talker is carrying live coverage of Yankees baseball. Tonight, the first hour of Hannity was bumped for a full hour of news — hosted by former 93Q personality “Big” Jim Donovan. [More »]
SYRACUSE — A lingering question for Syracuse Crunch fans has been answered: the AHL team has named its new play-by-play announcer. He’s Jason Lockhart, a 27-year-old who previously called games in the ECHL, and worked three seasons before that with the NHL’s New York Islanders. [More »]
SYRACUSE — There are no more free concerts at the Inner Harbor on Thursday nights, but the venue is just as busy with new promoters hosting a similar event on a new night — it’s called “Wednesdays on the Water.” As evidenced by this week’s POTW, the crowds are just as impressive. [More »]
SYRACUSE — We continue to hear from local winners at the 44th annual Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, handed out by the New York State Broadcasters’ Association on Monday night. Citadel’s 93Q (WNTQ) is the latest to check-in, taking home an award for “Best Local Interactive Sales Campaign.” [More »]
SYRACUSE — At least four national recording artists will be coming to Syracuse for “Summer Crush 2010,” a concert announced this morning on Clear Channel’s Hot 107.9 (WWHT). The concert is set to take place at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter in August… and interestingly, one of the headliners was just in town a few weeks ago for a competing radio station’s event. SYRACUSE — Earlier this month, Citadel CHR station 93Q (WNTQ) brought several national recording artists into town for its second “Summer Jam on the Island” concert. Tickets were free, but the only way to get ‘em was to win ‘em. Six acts were announced back in April, and at the last minute, the station added a “surprise” special guest to the lineup. [More »]
