SYRACUSE — You may have heard on the air (or read on CNYRadio.com’s Facebook page), that 93Q (WNTQ) morning co-host Ted Long underwent gastric bypass surgery last week. We’re glad to report he returned to work yesterday. According to a report published today, Long has already lost nearly 25 pounds — and says he wants to shed another 125. [More »]

ATLANTA — It’s been a long time in the works, and now it’s official: the merger of Citadel Broadcasting and Cumulus Media is complete. Cumulus made the announcement this morning. It’s basically more of a takeover, as Citadel is technically a “wholly-owned subsidiary” of Cumulus. The deal involves four Syracuse market radio stations. [More »]

ATLANTA — The merger between Cumulus and Citadel is all but complete. Citadel stockholders and the FCC approved the merger today, following the Department of Justice’s early termination of an anti-trust “waiting period” on Tuesday. All that’s left is for the official closing of the deal — and that’s expected to happen tomorrow. Citadel owns four Syracuse radio stations. The merged company will keep the Cumulus name. [More »]

SYRACUSE — Almost four months after Gary Nolan left the only locally-hosted weekday timeslot at 105.9 The Big Talker (WXTL), the Citadel station is putting out the call for a replacement. “We’re searching for someone who knows how to immerse him-or-herself in local issues and converse with local newsmakers and callers,” Ops Manager Tom Mitchell says. UTICA/ROME — Until now, the Buffalo Bills Radio Network has had a gap in coverage between Syracuse and Albany. That gap will be at least partially filled this season as Roser Communications Network’s 95.5FM (WUTQ/WADR/W238CA) becomes the network’s newest affiliate. [More »]

SYRACUSE — Citadel sports-talker The Score 1260 (WSKO) launched a brand new show earlier this evening, giving Syracuse Orange football fans a chance to track the team’s preparations for the upcoming season. Updated 8/2 – SUNNYVALE, CA — Over 180 “Sporting News Radio” affiliates across the country, including Syracuse’s The Score 1260 (WSKO) are now affiliates of “Yahoo! Sports Radio.” The rebranding was announced this morning and took effect immediately. But in Central New York, the changes might not be too noticeable. [More »]
