ATLANTA — It’s been a long time in the works, and now it’s official: the merger of Citadel Broadcasting and Cumulus Media is complete. Cumulus made the announcement this morning. It’s basically more of a takeover, as Citadel is technically a “wholly-owned subsidiary” of Cumulus. The deal involves four Syracuse market radio stations. [More »]

ATLANTA — The merger between Cumulus and Citadel is all but complete. Citadel stockholders and the FCC approved the merger today, following the Department of Justice’s early termination of an anti-trust “waiting period” on Tuesday. All that’s left is for the official closing of the deal — and that’s expected to happen tomorrow. Citadel owns four Syracuse radio stations. The merged company will keep the Cumulus name. [More »]

DALLAS — Dave Michaels, the PD and midday host Citadel Media’s syndicated “Classic Hits” service, has died at the age of 60, reports Radio-Info.com. For several years, Michaels and his “Workday Request Party” could be heard locally on Oldiez 96.1 (WODZ) in Utica. [More »]

Updated 11:20am – ATLANTA — After three weeks of “exclusive merger negotiations” between Citadel and Cumulus, the latter (and larger) of the two companies announced this morning that the deal is done. UTICA/ROME — Townsquare Media’s Newsradio 950 WIBX has moved Dr. Dean Edell from Sundays to Saturdays, replacing a late afternoon vacancy left by MoneyTalk. Last month, the latter’s host, Bob Brinker, rumored to be in his late 60s, announced he would be scaling back his twice-a-weekend show to Sundays only. [More »]

SYRACUSE — Big news from the Citadel camp on James Street this afternoon: the station confirms WNSS will remain a sports-talker branded as “The Score 1260″ as of March 5th. Even more of a surprise: Lite Rock 105.9 will be flipped to an FM talk format, branded as “105.9 The Big Talker.” [More »]

UTICA-ROME — At least three people were pinkslipped from the on-air lineup at Regent’s Oldiez 96 (WODZ) today… but Regent had no control over the changes. The decision was made by Citadel Media, who supplies the station’s syndicated “Classic Hits” satellite feed outside of morning drive. [More »]
