SYRACUSE — Outasight will be back for his second consecutive “93Q Summer Jam on the Island” this June, along with four other national recording acts who will be appearing for their first time at the station’s annual listener appreciation concert in June. And, as has been the case since the first “Summer Jam,” tickets are free, but the only way to get them is to win them.
SYRACUSE — Our latest Picture of the Week headline has nothing to do with the 2:02 commercial breaks Chuck Woolery used to introduce during TV’s Love Connection back in the 80s. Rather, we’ve got two local morning radio co-hosts being photographed at two different recent events… and the photos came to us from two different contributors.
SYRACUSE — Taking a jab at its competition by promising “Syracuse basketball coverage that’s NOT controlled by the University’s network,” Cumulus Media sports-talker The Score 1260 (WSKO) said it will offer special pre-game and post-game coverage surrounding the Syracuse University men’s basketball team’s Final Four appearance tomorrow night.
SYRACUSE — Hopefully you remembered today’s date before turning on the radio this morning. Otherwise, you may wondered why 93Q (WNTQ) morning hosts Ted and Amy devoted much of their show today to exposing the potential “hazards” of a substance known as DHMO.
SYRACUSE — Yesterday, we reported that the Syracuse Chiefs have a new radio partner: the Internet. It’s definitely a notable break from the many years fans could hear the hometown team on traditional broadcast radio. Even though he knew people would be critical, the team’s GM tells CNYRadio.com there were plenty of factors behind the decision.
SYRACUSE — For decades, baseball fans have enjoyed hearing their favorite teams on the radio. But this year, an ordinary radio won’t cut it for Syracuse Chiefs fans. Today, the team announced it’s bypassing radio altogether, streaming all of its games exclusively via the internet.
SYRACUSE — After more than a decade in local sports talk radio, today is Mike Lindsley’s last day in Syracuse. Starting tomorrow, The Score 1260 (WSKO) will lose a few hours of local weekday sports talk, as the station plugs-in syndicated talent Doug Gottlieb.
SYRACUSE — The crew at the syndicated “Bob and Tom” morning show, heard locally on Cumulus Media’s 105.9 The Rebel (WXTL), has produced a song to cheer on the Syracuse Orange as they continue to advance through the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
SYRACUSE — Syndicated host Michael Baisden, heard locally on Power 620 (WHEN), announced this morning that he’ll be ending his radio show at the end of this month. But when he and his staff reported for work today, Baisden said they were “locked out” of the studio.
SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME — Despite the odd selection of March 9 (as opposed to the seemingly more-obvious March 16) for Saint Patrick’s parades in both Syracuse and Utica, crowds turned out in huge numbers. And as always, broadcasters were a big part of those parades. Today, we’ve got three “Pictures of the Week” submitted by local stations.
