UTICA/ROME — Starting this fall, radio coverage of Utica College sports will be moving from Townsquare news/talker WIBX to Galaxy’s three Utica-Rome ESPN Radio stations. That’s according to an announcement from the college this week.
UTICA/ROME — Minutes after we reported learning that SportsWatch is returning to the WIBX lineup, we’ve learned the station is now looking for its next News Director / Program Director. Here’s the official job posting as provided to CNYRadio.com by Townsquare Ops Manager Bill McAdams:
UTICA/ROME — After a sudden absence which started nearly two weeks ago, the long-running SportsWatch returns to Townsquare news/talker WIBX 950 tonight. The show will air in less than an hour, resuming its most-recent timeslot of 6-8pm. WIBX News Director Jeff Monaski will share co-host duties with Ray Rich.
UTICA/ROME — We had first reported this on May 25, but it was quickly retracted by those involved. Now, the news is “official” — Gene Conte and Fred Miller are moving from Townsquare Media’s WIBX to Galaxy Communications’ trio of ESPN Radio stations. Conte, who has been serving as PD for WIBX, will become PD of the ESPN trimulcast. ESPN Radio also picks up Dave Peroni for play-by-play duties.
UTICA/ROME — It’s another victorious battle in the ongoing war against heart disease. The 40th WIBX Heart Radiothon, which started a week ago today, raised $36,000 toward the “Heart Weekend” total of $1.1 Million to benefit the American Heart Association. As per tradition for the Heart Radiothon, a long list of guests took turns sitting behind the microphones at Utica College.
UTICA/ROME — It’s a busy week at Townsquare Media’s WIBX. After 76 years as an affiliate of CBS News, the station is now running Fox News Radio at the top of the hour. There’s also new imaging, a new station voice, and the staffers are gearing up for the station’s 40th annual Heart Radiothon this coming weekend.
Updated 5:30pm with a correction – UTICA-ROME — Sean Hannity is about to get more air time in the Mohawk Valley. Newsradio 950 WIBX, which has carried Hannity’s “best of” shows on Sundays, will be adding the conservative talker to its weekday lineup, starting Monday. As a result, Laura Ingraham is out and WIBX is shuffling a few other shows to new timeslots.
UTICA/ROME — Townsquare Media’s Newsradio 950 WIBX has moved Dr. Dean Edell from Sundays to Saturdays, replacing a late afternoon vacancy left by MoneyTalk. Last month, the latter’s host, Bob Brinker, rumored to be in his late 60s, announced he would be scaling back his twice-a-weekend show to Sundays only.
UTICA-ROME — He’s not just the co-host of SportsWatch on WIBX; Fred Miller is also the owner of a local newspaper and website that cover local sports. And in today’s edition of the Utica Observer-Dispatch, Miller discusses his love for his work, and how he became a “media jack-of-all-trades.”
UTICA-ROME — Nothing beats a nice HD big screen when it comes to football, but if you’re stuck at work or on the road during any big games this season, Newsradio 950 WIBX has you covered. The station has inked a deal to carry Westwood One’s NFL Prime Time lineup, which includes the biggest game of all. |
