SYRACUSE — Longtime NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) anchor Rod Wood and former longtime WSYR radio talk show host Jim Reith were among many local and national broadcasters to receive write-in votes in Onondaga County this past Election Day. Other names to receive votes include TK99 morning co-host Glenn “Gomez” Adams, and national TV stars like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

BOLTON LANDING – As announced in April, WSYR-TV anchor team Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus were inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame last night. But they weren’t the only Central New Yorkers taking awards home from the NYSBA’s annual Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting.

SYRACUSE — The day after Jim “The Manchild” Lerch was among the 1,800+ victims in a nationwide wave of Clear Channel layoffs, he and former co-host Bud Poliquin are talking about the cancellation of their afternoon sports talk show on Sportsradio 620 WHEN. 
The namesake character of the classic TV series “Leave it to Beaver” recently stopped by the TK99/105 studios in Syracuse. After nearly a week of chatter and rumors about Y94FM (WYYY) and TK-99/105 (WTKW/WTKV), the cat is officially out of the bag. Well, sort of. With the exit of Lauren from news/co-hosting duties on TK-99′s morning show, Glenn ‘Gomez’ Adams and Dave Coombs are looking for a new sidekick to deliver morning headlines and keep the ‘good guys’ in line. Lauren recently left the station for new digs in Austin, Texas. This week’s Syracuse New Times cover story takes a look at the 2002 Syracuse Area Music Awards (Sammys) show held on Feb. 1 at the Syracuse Landmark Theater. Glenn Gomez Adams and Dave Coombs, hosts of TK-99/105′s morning show, have released a new two-disc set titled “Red, White & Blue… & Orange” which includes a collection of patriotic songs along with some of the better bits from “The Good Guys” morning show. |
