After two months without a morning show, Syracuse active rock station 95X (WAQX) welcomes a new local morning team to replace Howard Stern’s syndicated show which the station dropped in late December. Guy “Beaner” Patton and Ken Heron, who were last paired together on the air in Birmingham, Alabama, aren’t looking to duplicate Stern’s show, instead opting for more shtick and less shock.

Matt Drudge is reporting that executives at CBS have Howard Stern’s name at the top of a short list of possible replacements if David Letterman decides to move to ABC. The talks are being described as “serious”, with Stern’s agent Don Buchwald said to be on the phone nearly “non-stop” with the network. Stern’s syndicated morning show is heard locally on 95X.

Syndicated morning host Howard Stern, heard locally on 95X, announced today that he has received a personal invitation to testify before a congressional subcommittee investigating the handling of donations for relief efforts following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Stern, who has raised over $3 million for the New York City victims’ families, was invited to speak on the success of the management of those donations.
Since the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Federal Communications Commission has seen a dramatic increase in the number of listener complaints about on-air content. Howard Stern’s syndicated morning show leads the list due in part to comments from one member of the show proposing that New York City prostitutes provide complimentary sexual favors to city firefighters. Stern is heard locally on 95X.
