WATERTOWN — Co-workers, listeners and other friends recently gathered for a benefit for the family of Bud “Green” Yeman. The Froggy 97 (WFRY) afternoon driver lost two daughters and a soon-to-be-born grandchild during a Memorial Day weekend crash that also claimed two other lives.
Last week, we told you how the merger of Jones Radio Networks and Dial Global will result in the termination of the syndicated country overnight “Danny Wright All Night” show by the end of the year. Today, Watertown’s Froggy 97 (WFRY) has unveiled its plan for 2009. 
Contrary to the popular saying… it doesn’t stay in Vegas if you post it on the station website! WFRY morning co-host James Pond alerted us to some pictures from a recent trip to Vegas after the show was nominated for an award from the Academy of Country music this spring. UPDATED (1:05PM) - The 2008 New York State Broadcasters Association “Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting” have been unveiled. We now have a complete list of winners, and they include stations in all four markets we cover… for a total of 11 radio awards, and at least 2 TV awards for former radio reporters. 
It’s our first POTW from Watertown! There’s no joke at these pumps — with gas prices skyrocketing, Watertown’s Froggy 97 invoked a tried and true tactic to earn big brownie points with listeners earlier this month. |
