SARATOGA — With nine first-place awards, Oswego-based NPR affiliate WRVO was the big winner among radio stations — both locally and statewide — at the New York State Associated Press Broadcast Association Awards over the weekend. On the other hand, all but two of the nominations for local TV stations did not materialize into first-place awards.

SYRACUSE — Top journalists from Syracuse and surrounding markets gathered for the Syracuse Press Club’s 33rd annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Dinner last night at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. Public stations WRVO and WAER dominated the radio categories, while there were plenty of ties for winners in the television categories. 
OSWEGO — After four years as an award-winning reporter/producer in the WRVO newsroom, Jasmyn Belcher is packing up and moving to New York City. She’s accepted a position as an Associate Producer at StoryCorps, an oral history project that produces interviews heard nationwide on NPR’s Morning Edition.
SYRACUSE — Public broadcaster WRVO took home First Place in the “Radio Newscast” category at the Syracuse Press Club awards dinner on Saturday night. The Oswego-based NPR affiliate took home four other first-place awards and a second-place title. Syracuse-based NPR affiliate WAER had the second-longest list of awards, and WSYR took home three titles. Updated 5/18. CENTRAL NEW YORK — It’s awards season for local media! The Radio/Television Digital News Association recently announced its regional winners, and the Syracuse Press Club recently announced its full slate of award winners, recognizing excellence in journalism during 2009. 
OSWEGO — National Public Radio affiliate WRVO announced plans to launch a new locally-produced show co-hosted by Morning Edition host Jason Smith and reporter Jasmyn Belcher. Weekly Edition is set to debut on March 19.
SYRACUSE — The slate of Syracuse Press Club Award winners has been announced… and not one commercial radio station appears on the list. In fact, all of the radio awards — including the Career Achievement Award — are being divvied up amongst two public stations.
