OSWEGO — After just a few weeks of hosting the local segments WRVO’s Morning Edition, Jason Smith says he loves the job. And while he feels at ease behind the mic, you’d be surprised to know he hates public speaking.
OSWEGO — In case you forgot, today’s the last day on the air for longtime WRVO fixture John Hurlbutt. The local host of “Morning Edition” is retiring after 40 years at the Oswego-based NPR affiliate. Morning news producer/reporter Jason Smith will assume hosting duties tomorrow.
OSWEGO — As we reported earlier this month, WRVO has chosen Jason Smith to take over the hosting duties of “Morning Edition” when longtime host John Hurlbutt retires. Today, the station made the announcement “official” with the dates for the transition.
OSWEGO — Good news for John Hurlbutt: the longtime local host of “Morning Edition” on WRVO can finally retire. After a search that started when Hurlbutt announced his plans to retire in September, the station has chosen to promote Jason Smith to the hosting chair. WRVO is now searching for a morning news producer/anchor to fill Smith’s seat, and WRVO General Manager John Krauss has graciously provided some of his thoughts and reflections from 40 years of working with Hurlbutt at the NPR news/talk affiliate.
A handful of Central New York’s radio newsrooms took home several titles from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards this past weekend in Saratoga Springs. In fact, the top award-winner was from CNYRadio.com territory.
