UTICA/ROME — After a few years away from radio, former Syracuse news anchor Jules Thompson will be returning to the airwaves later this month. He’s just been hired as News Director for Townsquare news/talker WIBX 950. And Thompson’s arrival will allow the current ND to move down the hall into a new role of his own.

UTICA/ROME — Minutes after we reported learning that SportsWatch is returning to the WIBX lineup, we’ve learned the station is now looking for its next News Director / Program Director. Here’s the official job posting as provided to CNYRadio.com by Townsquare Ops Manager Bill McAdams:
UTICA/ROME — After a sudden absence which started nearly two weeks ago, the long-running SportsWatch returns to Townsquare news/talker WIBX 950 tonight. The show will air in less than an hour, resuming its most-recent timeslot of 6-8pm. WIBX News Director Jeff Monaski will share co-host duties with Ray Rich. 
UTICA/ROME — Newsradio 950 WIBX is expanding its newsroom. The Townsquare Media station is looking to hire a part-timer to help with reporting needs during the week, and to anchor weekend newscasts.
Longtime WIBX news reporter/anchor Jeff Monaski has been promoted to News Director, according to AllAccess.com.

Newsradio 950 WIBX spent two days broadcasting live from the Utica College gymnasium during the weekend of March 8-9, to raise more than $17,000 for the American Heart Association, during it’s 37th annual Heart Radiothon, a part of America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk.
We told you last week that WIBX News Director Stacey Lynn McAdams moved to mornings on sister station WFRG, to fill the morning show co-host position vacated by Annie Croakley. Now, somewhat of a “reverse trade,” as one of Big Frog 104′s part-time jocks temporarily adds news reporting duties for WIBX. |
