SYRACUSE — Matthew Benedict, the drunk driver convicted of killing former WSYR radio reporter and WTVH sports anchor Bill Leaf in 2006, could be granted parole this fall. But Bill’s sister Maria — also a former local broadcaster — has launched an online petition to keep Benedict behind bars. [More »]

SYRACUSE — Clear Channel news/talker 570 WSYR and CHR Hot 107.9 (WWHT) will team up for a 3-day long “Radiothon for Kids” to benefit patient care at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse. The radiothon begins tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, and runs through Friday evening. [More »]

SYRACUSE — For the fifth year, dozens gathered at Onondaga Lake Park to compete in the Bill Leaf Memorial Kickball Tournament. In addition to the summer league and “civilian” teams that participate every year, various media outlets have formed their own teams to remember the former WSYR reporter who was killed by a drunk driver in 2006. TOWN OF CLAY — A number of guest appearances on the show he used to produce apparently didn’t help Dan McIntyre’s campaign. The former Jim Reith Show producer lost his bid for Town of Clay Supervisor on Tuesday night, according to unofficial results posted by the Onondaga County Board of Elections. [More »]
