UTICA/ROME — We’re sad to report former (we’re talking decades ago) Utica radio personality and programmer Don DeRosa was recently diagnosed with cancer. Friends of DeRosa — also known to some by the nicknames “Polka Stoney” or “Donnie D” — are organizing a benefit to help defray the costs of DeRosa’s medical treatments. It’s happening on June 19th in Syracuse. Updated 8:30am with more info on DeRosa’s career. 
SYRACUSE — They’re competitors on the radio — battling for the same pool of listeners and advertising dollars. But off-air, you won’t see a re-enactment of the fight scene from Anchorman. Instead, you’re more likely to catch these guys huddling up to smile for the camera. 
SYRACUSE – Nearly a month after Jim Tate was shown the door at WSEN, the other shoe has dropped at the Buckley Broadcasting classic hits station. Sources tell CNYRadio.com overnight jock Spidr Murfee and several part-timers have been terminated.
It appears that Buckley’s Classic Hits 92.1 (WSEN) has completed on-air lineup changes, following the exit of former PD/afternoon driver Jim Tate. UPDATED 11/11 with weekend schedule changes. |

ALBANY — He worked for many years in the Utica/Rome market, mostly at WRCK and WTLB. Larry Oyer, who went by the name “Big Larry Williams” on the air, has died at the age of 57, following a brief illness. Calling hours and a funeral are set to take place today near Albany, but a memorial service closer to Utica has been scheduled for next weekend.
