Wagner, who some may know by the name Don Christi, is the new General Manager for Leatherstocking Media Group’s properties in Syracuse, Oneida and Utica. UTICA/ROME — Townsquare Media’s Newsradio 950 WIBX has moved Dr. Dean Edell from Sundays to Saturdays, replacing a late afternoon vacancy left by MoneyTalk. Last month, the latter’s host, Bob Brinker, rumored to be in his late 60s, announced he would be scaling back his twice-a-weekend show to Sundays only. [More »]

SYRACUSE — CNY Talk Radio (WFBL/WMCR-AM) local midday host Jon Alvarez announced on today’s broadcast that he’s ending his show, effective immediately. SYRACUSE — Longtime market fixture Tony Bombardo will be performing his very last traffic reports on radio and TV tomorrow (Friday) morning. Bombardo’s decision to quit his reports comes after he and ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) failed to agree on a new contract for Bombardo’s services. [More »]

SYRACUSE — About a day after CNY Talk Radio (WFBL/WMCR-A) noontime host Jon Alvarez posted a Facebook tribute to Joe Stack, the social networking site pulled the page down, citing a policy banning “hateful or threatening” pages. Stack was the pilot who took his own life and one other when he crashed a small plane into an IRS office in Texas earlier this week.

SYRACUSE — Earlier this week, we were told the new CNY Talk Radio (WFBL) would have an hour of local programming with a host “to be announced.” Now, we know who that host will be: Jon Alvarez, who some may remember as a frequent guest on the Bill Colley Show, during WFBL’s previous incarnation as a talk station. SYRACUSE — Satellite problems contributed to a rocky first day for the debut of CNY Talk Radio (1390 WFBL), but Leatherstocking Media Group management says the glitches are being worked out. SYRACUSE — The new week begins with a new–but old–additional choice for talk radio in the Salt City. Leatherstocking Media Group is launching “CNY Talk Radio” on WFBL 1390, effective tomorrow (Monday) morning at 5:00am. In other news from the Smokey Hollow Road studios in Baldwinsville, WSEN is no longer airing traffic reports from Tony Bombardo.
